An interesting postulation, I've always been interested in recursive phenomena, positive feedback mechanisms in particular, such as the one above, given their tendency to spectacular behavior. Also intriguing are related occurrences such as infinite cycles in Magic: The Gathering and infinite combination attacks in certain video games.
I think it deserves it's own specialised field of study.
